Abstract：Vegetable oil is susceptible to oxidative rancidity. The previous studies mainly focus on the oxidation of vegetable oils during storage or in sale but not long-term kitchen use. In this study, the oxidative stability of soybean oil (SBO) was investigated over 70 days of kitchen use. The impact of rosemary extract (RE) on the oxidative stability of SBO was evaluated by adding varying concentrations of RE (100–700 mg/kg) to SBO and using the synthetic antioxidant tert-butylhydroquinone as a positive control group.

Abstract：Anthocyanins in blueberry fruit have strong antioxidant capacity which could provide health benefits. However, the instability of natural anthocyanins restricts their inherent benefits. Acylation could enhance the stability of anthocyanins, but how to increase the content of acylated anthocyanins in blueberry fruit and underlying regulatory mechanisms are far less known. In this study, two southern highbush blueberry cultivars, 'Gulfcoast' and 'O'neal', which exhibit notable variations in acetylated anthocyanins content, were employed to explore the method of boosting this content through spectral modulation and the underlying regulatory mechanisms.

Abstract：The long-term mining of vanadium-titanium (V-Ti) magnetite has generated a large accumulation of tailings, which can lead to metal pollution via microbial bioleaching. Current research has focused on the bioleaching of minerals, and a few studies have explored microbial responses to metals only through limited metabolite concentrations. However, the trigger mechanisms of metal release during the V-Ti magnetite tailing bioleaching and key gene regulatory pathways for organic acid metabolism are still unclear. This study screened a bioleaching fungus from the V-Ti magnetite tailing pond groundwater. The fungus promoted tailing dissolution by secreting more organic acids (808.99 mg L−1) than without tailings (671.11 mg L−1).

Abstract：Microbes in pit mud (PM) are vital for the solid-state fermentation of strong-flavour baijiu (SFB), influencing the flavour and quality of SFB through metabolic activity. This study aimed to elucidate the differences in microbes and metabolites in PM at varying cellar ages and spatial positions. Microbes and metabolites in PM exhibited significant spatiotemporal variations, with temporal heterogeneity being more pronounced than spatial heterogeneity. Fourteen and 21 dominant genera were identified in 7-year and 50-year PM, respectively. Redundancy analysis suggested that pH, lactic acid, humus, and acetic acid drive microbial community succession.

Abstract：With the widespread use of typical antibiotics such as sulfamethazine (SMT), it leads to their accumulation in the environment, increasing the risk of the spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) has shown great potential in treating antibiotic wastewater. However, the long cultivation period of AGS, the easy disintegration of particles and the poor stability of degradation efficiency for highly concentrated antibiotic wastewater are still urgent problems that need to be solved, and it is important to explore the migration and changes of ARGs and microbial diversity in AGS systems.

Abstract：The integration of nitrogen vacancies (Nv) exhibits significant role in promoting the efficiency of single-atom catalysts (SACs). Herein, a novel dual SAC, FeNi-Nv/CN, was developed via immobilizing Fe-Ni dual atoms onto graphitic carbon nitride with Nv sites. The FeNi-Nv/CN could effectively activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and generate plentiful reactive oxygen owing to the excellent Fenton-like catalytic property of FeNi, which could facilitate the degradation of Orange II.

Abstract：The migration behavior of pesticides in water under the coexistence of microplastics is not sufficiently known. In this study, the effects of main environmental factors on the adsorption characteristics of atrazine (ATZ) and imidacloprid (IMD) on aged polyethylene (PE) microplastics in aqueous solution were investigated, and the adsorption mechanisms were also discussed. The results showed that the pseudo-first-order and Freundlich models fitted the adsorption kinetics and isotherms of ATZ and IMD on PE well. The adsorption capacity of PE toward ATZ and IMD could be reached to as high as 350.40 μg/g and 327.75 μg/g, respectively, at 298 K and pH 7.

Abstract：In this study, carvacrol was effectively encapsulated in gelatin/chitosan composite nanofiber membrane using the electrospinning method with the help of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The effects of CTAB (0.0%, 1.0%, w/w) and bioactive carvacrol (0.0%, 1.0%, 3.0%, 5.0%, 7.0%, 10.0%, w/w) on the structural, physicomechanical, antibacterial, and antioxidant characteristics of the nanofiber membranes were investigated. The results demonstrated that the antibacterial and antioxidant characteristics of the gelatin/chitosan composite nanofiber membrane (GC) and GC-CAR membrane (with the addition of 1.0% carvacrol) were unsatisfactory. As carvacrol and CTAB were both added, the elongation at break, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties of the nanofiber membranes significantly improved (p < 0.05), while the water vapor permeability (WVP) significantly decreased (p < 0.05). When the added amount of carvacrol was 5.0% (w/w), the nanofiber membrane (GC-CAR5-CTAB) exhibited the best antioxidant and antibacterial performance.

Abstract：The coexistence of multiple contaminates in the environment and food is of growing concern due to their extremely hazard as a well-known class I carcinogen, like aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and benzo(α)pyrene (BaP). AFB1 and BaP are susceptible to coexistence in environmental water and edible oil, posing a significant potential risk to environmental monitoring and food safety. The remaining challenges in detecting multiple contaminates include unsatisfied sensitivity, insufficient targets selectivity, and interferences in complex matrices.

Abstract：Carbon fiber (CF) with a regular fiber skeleton structure was used to prepare the Co3O4@CF catalyst. The as-prepared catalyst was then applied to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of phenolic pollutants. Furthermore, the catalytic performance and degradation mechanisms are investigated in this study. The uniform dispersion of Co3O4 on the surface of the CF, as well as the presence of Co–O–R in the Co3O4@CF structure, was confirmed. Notably, 50 mg L−1 of bisphenol A (BPA) was completely degraded in the Co3O4@CF/PMS system within 20 min, under initial conditions of catalyst mass concentration at 0.2 g L−1, the PMS concentration at 10 mmol L−1, and a pH of 6.6.

Abstract：Resource utilization of textile waste is an important way of achieving the “dual carbon” policy. A one-step calcination method using textile waste as a raw material was used to develop a novel Co-doped carbon fiber catalyst (Co3O4@TCF) with catalytic performance in the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to degrade refractory organic pollutants. Various refractory organic pollutants in the Co3O4@TCF/PMS system were degraded within a few min. In particular, 50 mg·L−1 of bisphenol A (BPA) was completely degraded within 8 min under the initial conditions of 30 °C, a Co3O4@TCF dosage of 0.25 g·L−1, a PMS concentration of 0.7 mmol·L−1, and a pH of 6.6. The degradation efficiency of BPA was 10 times higher than that of Co3O4@CF prepared from commercial carbon fibers, where the utilization efficiency of PMS was also significantly higher than that of the Co3O4@CF. In addition, the 3D-excitation-emission matrix (3D-EEM) results showed that Co3O4@TCF exhibited remarkable catalytic efficiency for purifying actual coking wastewater with and without BPA.

Abstract：As emerging contaminants, microplastics threaten food and environmental safety. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP, released from microplastics) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP, adsorbed on microplastics) coexisted in food and the environment, harming human health, requesting a sensitive and simultaneous testing method to monitor. To address current sensitivity, simultaneousness, and on-site portability challenges during dual targets in complex matrixes, CuCo2S4/Fe3O4 nanoflower was designed to develop a smartphone-assisted photoelectrochemical point-of-care test (PEC POCT). The carrier transfer mechanism in CuCo2S4/Fe3O4 was proven via density functional theory calculation. Under optimal conditions, the PEC POCT showed low detection limits of 0.126, and 0.132 pg/mL, wide linearity of 0.001–500, and 0.0005–50 ng/mL for DBP and BaP, respectively. The smartphone-assisted PEC POCT demonstrated satisfied recoveries (80.00%–119.63%) in real samples. Coherent results were recorded by comparing the PEC POCT to GC–MS (DBP) and HPLC (BaP). This novel method provides a practical platform for simultaneous POCT for food safety and environment monitoring.

Abstract：The combustion of agricultural and forestry residues, along with subsequent runoff, can lead to the production of a significant quantities of dissolved black carbon (DBC), which plays a pivotal role in the photo-transformation of organic pesticides. As a result, the photochemical activity of DBC and its associated photo-transformation mechanisms must elucidate. This study investigated the effect of DBC on tetrachlorantraniliprole (TCTP) photo-transformation, a new type of pesticide independently developed and widely used in China, using photochemical simulation experiments. The results revealed that the prepared DBC had a smaller molecular weight and higher aromaticity, generating 3DBC*, ·OH, and 1O2, with apparent quantum yields of 4.75 × 10−2, 4.35 × 10−5, and 4.01 × 10−2, respectively. 3DBC* was the dominant intermediate reactive responsible for accelerating TCTP photolysis by determining its direct photolysis rate constant as 0.278 min−1.
